I don't think there's a point in elaborating on why this thought occurred to me, but guys:

If I ever start obsessing about anything to the point of becoming annoying, if you ever get tired of listening to me saying the same things over and over and over, if you ever feel like telling me to JUST SHUT THE FUCK UP...

...by all means, do.

No worries about, "it's your journal, you don't need us to tell you what to do" and such stuff, all right? You go on and tell me, and we'll figure out the rest afterwards.

Thanks! ^^

Tragically enough, I know no Chemistry.

And yes, I realize that coming from me, this sounds as, at best, a blatant lie. But I'm currently studying Organic Chemistry I (which I failed in June) and I'm like "+R -R +I -I SN1 SN2 WTF".

Never mind the heaps and heaps of chemical reactions I'm supposed to remember by heart.

Organic Chemistry was actually my favourite part of Chemistry in school, but that was because I sat down and did exercises throughout the year, so it was a matter of (very little) time until I could complete reaction chains like an easy puzzle. This year, however, I let it pile up. As a result (or rather, as two results):

a) The "general" part, with the reaction mechanisms, R and I etc. phenomena and the like, sounded easy when the professor explained it, I understood it... and then time passed, I forgot it all and now no notes or books seem helpful enough. Ole1, as Mufasa would say. (Or ole2, as I would say to him.)

b) The "special" part, with the aforementioned heaps and heaps of reactions, is too huge to learn in the three days I've left out of the eight I had (procrastination 4ever). At least knowing the mechanisms and stuff would have been a step forward, but since I don't know them, ole2 again. Joy of joys.

The worst part is, I have Organic Chemistry II next semester! Which complicates things more than I have the courage to explain. But my dear f-list is smart enough to realize that.

There's only one solution: STUDY, ANNA, STUDY! OR SUFFER THE CONSEQUENCES.

And I just managed to terrorize myself. Go me. I'm obviously in need of therapy.

Reluctantly heading to bed now, because it's 4:33 am. Yes, my sleep schedule remains (something I won't say because I'm polite, or at least I pretend to be).

Hugs,
Anna.

Good news!

If there are people on your friends list who make your world a better place just because they exist, and who you would not have met (in real life or not) without the Internet, then post this same sentence in your journal.

:)

Speaking of great online friends, I got [livejournal.com profile] incoherent_me's postcard today. Cath, are you back yet?? I miss you :(

On the exams front, YEAH, BABY! The Statistics exam went great ^^ I'm expecting around 7, which is more than I could have ever hoped to get in Statistics. ^^

Tomorrow I have the Inorganic Chemistry I exam, and I should be revising but I can't focus on studying at all. Statistics has left me mentally drained. x_x

And one shocking revelation: D'you know what I did last night? And the night before that?

I wrote. FIC.

Wow.

TTYL, guys :)

Currently working on Statistics exercises. It's one of my worst subjects ever but I think I'm slowly getting the hang of it. Let's hope so, because the exam is tomorrow morning.

And Wednesday morning is the Inorganic Chemistry I exam.

Wish me luck, folks.

See ya,
Anna.

Remember your first LJ? The free one with only six icons? In this meme, you have to choose and post the six icons you would keep if you had no choice but go back to the six limit. They don't have to be in your list of icons you're using right now, but you have to explain why you choose those specific six. Next, you have to tag six people to do the same.

CRAPPY TELEDOME.

Since we switched to them for Internet access, our DSL constantly has problems. Now we can't get the Ministry of Education site to work, whereas my cousins (who are on OTENET) can AND MY PARENTS ARE BLAMING ME FOR THAT WTF. YOU GET IT TO WORK IF YOU CAN.

Anyways. So our cousins gave us my brother Christos's results. He made it to the Department of Informatics in University of Central Greece (in Lamia), from where he can tranfer to the Department of Informatics and Telecommunications in University of Athens. (That's the university where I am, too. ^_^)

I'm kinda concerned because he wanted Polytechnical school, and I know for sure he'd enjoy a field in engineering whereas he's never been a computer nerd like me. But he's happy with his results - says he might not know much about it but it seems like an interesting field of study. I really hope he'll end up enjoying his studies.

Although I shouldn't worry about it. He's such a good-natured boy and so easy to please, I'm certain he'll end up enjoying his studies more than I enjoy mine :p

So that's all for now. I wish I could go back to sleep (my father woke me up two hours ago so I could look up Christos's results and I'm running on 5 hours of sleep) but between the phone calls from pretty much everyone and my grandma having come over, it's not so easy.

Off to keep trying to access the Ministry site, ttyl.

I was trying to get online yesterday but I couldn't get signal from the hotel's wireless.

We got home today. We had fires relatively close to the city and our hotel but didn't find ourselves in danger.

Big patches of land burned, all the way from Kalamata to Tripoli, and some houses too. I don't know if you guys outside of Greece have heard anything, but there's been great damage in various parts of the country. Even in the mountains surrounding Athens, but our house is a long way from all the fires.

So, in short, I'm alive and well. And I've got to start studying today. Blergh.

Hugs,
Anna.

We went to the book exposition here in Kalamata tonight. We've been going almost every year for the past ten years or so.

It feels so weird, seeing all these books and NOT getting cravings to buy half the merchandise. There were many books that seemed interesting but somehow I *knew* I wouldn't be sitting down to read them.

I also realized I haven't grown up as a reader at all. I'm afraid to move to something more "adult" - the things that would catch my eye would be Greek kids/teens literature, Enid Blyton, stuff like that. I considered Agatha Christie for a while but I ended up with Meg Cabot's The Princess Diaries (Vol. I). Something light I know I will sit down and finish in a reasonable amount of time.

I never, ever thought I'd outgrow books or reading, but it happened. Sigh. I've been reading books since I was 4, and now it feels like I've lost a friend.

:(

I was basically miserable all day yesterday, because of stuff that had happened with some people from IRC. I wanted to go home and talk to a friend - except I don't think I have any friends left in Athens. Athanasia is in Salonica (I called her in the morning but it wasn't the same), Thodora is still on vacation, and the list of my few friends goes on. (May I clarify that Meropi, whom I was with, is part of the IRC crew and had her own part of the story to be miserable about.)

I left with the 18.25 ship as had been scheduled a long time before that. I tried to get online from the ship but their network was down. Besides, I had gotten a little queasy. Travelling on an empty stomach and a bad mood does that to you.

Then we got to Piraeus and my dad was waiting at the port to pick me up. We quickly got home, where I found Mom and Christos (past his bedtime), waiting for me.

And that's when I forgot all that had happened.

Still want it fixed, but sometimes knowing that there are people who love you is enough to make you feel better, whether you can talk about your problem with them or not.

See ya,
Anna.

P.S.: After 10 days with minimum Internet access, catching up with my f-list will be almost impossible. So I apologize in advance for anything I've missed, because I'm not sure I can devote that much time to catching up right now.

Erm, yeah.

...So I came here solely to write an entry narrating all of the past few days' incidents, but... they're not over yet. So I guess I'll do it some other time.

Here's something light instead. :p

Map )

I'm in Naxos - the island I've circled. Staying with my friend Meropi, her family and some family friends of hers.

...Gaah, I can't find what to write anymore. There's so much to say but... sdklfjghkdjsfgjkesjkngmdf. Y'know what I mean?

...No? Well, never mind.

I'm having a good time, though, so that should count for something.

So, I guess I'll talk to you soon. Hugs xxxx

It occurs to me that I haven't talked at all about how I did in the 2nd semester exams.

In short: passed 4 exams, failed 3, got a total of 6 left for the September exam period. My parents aren't pleased.

I'm leaving tomorrow morning on vacation at a friend's country house. Will be away for 10 days, little or no Internet in the meantime. I'll miss you guys :-/

Hugs,
Anna.

Seen at [livejournal.com profile] un_sedentary, [livejournal.com profile] christn7, [livejournal.com profile] kalinalea and possibly others.

When you see this, post a little weensy excerpt from as many random works-in-progress as you can find lying around. Who knows? Maybe inspiration will burst forth and do something, um, inspiration-y.

I really, really hope it will. The want to write has returned lately, but it didn't bring the Muse back. Sigh.

Tekken fandom:

Attempted sequel to A Night In The City, meant to be a quite long Julia/Hwoarang story. )
~~~
Lois & Clark fandom:
1. Tell Me - the second story in a mini-series I was planning but never really got far. I think I've posted the first story on the boards but it's not Archived and I can't be bothered to find the link to it. )
~~~

2. Cuando Limpiar No Es El Único Problema - The third story in the aforementioned series. I was trying to practice Spanish at the time. )
~~~
3. Enigma - a fic that was supposed to be a long and angsty time-travel piece, but I got lost very early in :p )
~~~

4. E-mail Me Soon - Clark is away from Metropolis on assignment, and he can only contact Lois via e-mail. Finished, but has a big plot-hole nene2811 pointed out and I didn't have the courage to fix. )
~~~
5. What A Fish Observes - the sequel to What A Fish Knows and What A Fish Sees. I enjoy writing in this universe but unfortunately ran out of ideas for this one too. )
~~~

6. Based on an ancient challenge - L&C come to work undercover as English teachers in my high school. Was supposed to be a pretty long piece, A-plot and everything.  )
~~~
7. Also based on an ancient challenge - L&C's daughter has severe health problems. Was meant to be a disability but the challenger's requirements made it too difficult to work as a disability. )
~~~

8. A recent challenge fic, for a change. Pointless weirdness for a scavenger hunt with 100 requirements. )
~~~
9. Based on a quite old challenge too. Lois tries a number of silly diets. )
~~~

Harry Potter fandom:

1. The obligatory Through Times Of War extract. From a chapter that hasn't been posted yet. )
~~~
2. Beauty - A short piece on the Delacours, meant to be a parallel to chapter 7 of Through Times Of War. )
~~~

3. A fanfic based on Remus's line “That was only once, I barely knew you, and you had just Transfigured my slippers into bunnies. It doesn’t count.” from Through Times Of War. )
~~~
4. The Marauder's Map - a fic about its confiscation from the Marauders and its retrieval from the Weasley twins. )
~~~

5. The Heroes Of The Second War - a story on a book written by Harry and Remus, recollecting the lives of those who fought Voldemort as an alt-Book 7. )
~~~
6. Tonks Tells Her Tale - a story on how Tonks got involved in the Order and met Remus. )
~~~

7. My first Remus/Tonks fic - Remus as a wolf under Wolfsbane Potion influence rescues Tonks. This one's actually finished, but I haven't posted it because I'm not sure the idea works that well. )
~~~
8. Remus's landlady ponders his situation. Based on a line from The Journey Of The Phoenix, where she's mentioned as one of the people who have been willing to give him a chance. )
~~~

9. I think this one was meant to be a Prisoner of Azkaban spin-off where Harry learns of the relationship between his father and Remus much earlier. But I don't remember the idea that well anymore. )
~~~
10. A James-gets-jealous-because-Lily-is-friends-with-Snape fic I started for a challenge but didn't know how to continue. )
~~~

11. If Remus had been hired as a DADA eacher during Tonks's 7th year. (Not exactly a teacher-student romance.) )
~~~
12. I had forgotten about this one! A fic where Lily isn't interested in anyone and her best friend has a crush on James. One I started shortly before my Muse left me completely because I started paying more attention to IRC than her. )
~~~

13. A scrapbook where the MWPP crowd answers a bunch of pointless questions. I've always loved scrapbooks ^__^ Kind of a trite idea, but there you go. )
~~~
14. My first attempt at Lily/James fic... typical long how-they-got-together story, featuring Lily's best friend as an original character interested in Sirius. Though I can't help but think it could have been quite better than the multitude of other similar fics. )
~~~

15. And here's the first piece of HP fanfiction I ever tried to write, an alt-Book 6 before the release of HBP. It was actually good (if I say so myself), save for the fact that it contained a quite Mary Sue-ish original character. )
~~~
Original pieces
My NaNoWriMo story, a romance story with a background heavily based on an older personal experience. )
~~~

I have a couple more original pieces on the works but they're all in Greek. I would paste a piece from my favourite one but I can't find where I've saved it (please don't tell me I've deleted it!). Then I thought I'd paste a piece from a soap-opera story but I can't find that one either (did I delete both??). So maybe you're not meant to see anything original in Greek. Such a terrible loss.

~~~
In any case, thanks for reading that far, if you did.
And, wow, I'm very pleased with some of these pieces - basically, with all the HP ones. I must get back to writing!!
(But not right now, because I had to stay up ridiculously late to do this. Look at how many WIPs I have!)
See ya,
Anna.
Step 1: Open up whatever MP3 program you use and add every song in your collection.
Step 2: Put it on random.
Step 3: Pick your favorite lines from the first 10 songs that play.
Step 4: Post and let everyone you know guess what song the lines come from.
Step 5: Cross out the songs when someone guesses correctly.
Step 6: Don't Google them, you cheater
Step 7: Tag if you so wish.
You're welcome to try and identify the songs that have already been guessed too, of course! That's why the comments are screened! )
Screening comments to make this more fun. A post with the answers will follow in a few days!
Post these instructions in your LiveJournal along with your seven songs. Then tag seven other people to see what they're listening to.
