So yesterday I was in the mood for writing, but my WIPs didn't want to move on. So I took a look at the [livejournal.com profile] rt_challenge prompts, and I found one that had attracted my attention since I first saw it, but hadn't had any ideas about it back then. Now, though, I had an idea of what to do - and, better yet, it was scheduled for the 30th, so I'd be in time, too.

I just finished it. It's a reconciliation scene (like the one that had been driving me nuts in The Journey Of The Phoenix) but because there were no strings attached (i.e. previous chapters to be in accordance with), it was much easier to write. I'm quite happy with it - we'll see what the reviewers will think tomorrow.

You know, I've found myself becoming more and more engulfed in writing 'poetic' pieces. As in, less of the dialogue (gasp!) and actions and more of the feelings and images. This is the case with this new fic I mentioned above too, and I'm wondering why this is happening. Is it because there are more pieces of this nature in the Harry Potter fandom? (Are there really, though?) Is it the nature of the Remus/Tonks-ness? Is it because writing for a book requires imagery more than writing for a TV show does? Or is it just me changing/evolving (hopefully) as a writer?

Maybe it's all of the above, combined. I don't know. Truth is, I've always wanted to be able to write a little more 'poetically', but was always afraid I'd fall into terrible clichés or, anyways, end up with a really boring fic. Plus, I didn't really have the inclination and the ideas to try something like that.

But now I do, and I'm surprisingly happy with my efforts. Writing like that brings me a sense of creativity (although that's probably a two-way street), and I can feel my writing becoming more powerful. Now granted, just because I like it doesn't mean it's well done - for all I know this kind of writing might not suit me at all, and I had better stick to my previous fashion - but I write for myself first and foremost, and I'll keep writing like that as long as the Muse takes me there.

It's just that it makes me wonder.

See ya,
Anna.

That's nice to hear that you're evolving (I think it's a sign that you are) as a writer and writing more about the actions, feeling and images, rather than the dialogue. I hope one day I'll be able to do that too!
