Hello, folks.

Hope you're having a great time :)

Today was a good day, all in all. No class (classes have officially stopped until February 19, which is when the spring semester begins - only exams until then), so I woke up late (natch), played Luigi's Mansion on the Wii, then went online and stayed online for hours, going through stuff like www.thisisbroken.com (oh, the hilarity!!)...

In the evening, we had people coming over because it was Dad's nameday. Thankfully, most of the kids/teenagers (gah, why can't you English people use 'kids' to mean 'young people' like we Greeks do?) that came over were boys, so I didn't have to play host. I don't really enjoy playing host to loud, energetic boys. I sat in my room like the recluse I am, online until 9, which is starting time for the TV series that would be translated as "Maria, the ugly" (a Greek rendition of Yo Soy Betty, La Fea - speaking of which, I should really start downloading the episodes for later viewing sessions, before the links I've found expire, but WAH I NEED SPACE). After Maria, it was time for the new episode of Sto Para Pente (at last!!!). In the middle of that a couple of girls came over (ages something like 16 and... 11?), but since almost everyone in Greece watches Sto Para Pente, we ended up watching all together, commenting and stuff. Then Sto Para Pente ended too and it was time for the first episode of a new TV series, a drama/angst/romance sort of thing, which would be translated as "With You". I'd been meaning to watch at least the first episode and see if it's any good because the lead actor is a hunk and since I never make good conversation with those girls, not even with the 16-year-old - hell, not even with her 18-year-old sister, who didn't come tonight - TV saved us. We watched the episode, again commenting and everything. I decided I'll follow the show. :p

Didn't study at all today. Yesterday I *did* study, after all. You see, it was a little past 11 p.m., so I figured I'd study a bit (read: half the book or so) before going to bed. For some reason, the first pages of the book work as an excellent soporific for me, so I gave it up and went to sleep at something like 11.15 p.m.. I woke up at 1.45 a.m. (messed up sleeping schedule, much?) and, feeling wide awake, I grabbed the book and didn't let go of it until about 5 a.m., when I was done reading it in its entirety.

Reading/studying in absolute silence is bliss.

But there's not going to be a repeat tonight. I'm too tired for that. Tomorrow...

...Though I can't help but feel a bit guilty at the thought that I didn't study at all today. :-/

Oh, well.

Will see you around. :)

played Luigi's Mansion on the Wii

I love that game. I passed it on a GameCube, not Wii, but still, I love that game. That game is a stroke of genius. (G)

(My friends and I still go 'Mariooo!' to each other in imitation of Luigi when we feel particularly silly)

ROFL! Oh, I love the way he calls out "Marioooo!" *g*

We bought it because my brothers had played it on some friends' GameCube and liked it. We didn't have a GameCube, though, so it had to wait. :p

See ya,
Anna.

I'm confused. What do you think "kids" means? Okay, technically it can refer to baby goats, but that's pretty rare. It can also be a verb, refering to teasing/joking. Generally, though, when used as a noun, "kids" means "children."

Also, the TV show you're referring to is known as Ugly Betty in the US.

Oh, yeah, I've seen mentions of "Ugly Betty". Apparently, there's been good promotion and franchising of the original Mexican series. :D

About kids: I know that kids=children. My problem isn't that "kids" can't be used for people, say, my age (I've tried to do that and been corrected. :p). Otoh, in Greek it can - not that you call an 18-year-old a kid, but if I want to call out to a bunch of my classmates, I can say "hey, kids!". Or, I can say "I went out with the kids".
Kinda like you'd use "guys", I guess, only in my mind "guys" is a) too US and b) too gender-specific. I don't know if I'm wrong or right, but I'm kind of reluctant to say "I went out with the guys" when I've been out with both boys and girls.
(The "too US" point is important only when I'm writing HP fanfic. *g*)

See ya,
Anna.

Mates is the word you're looking for. *g*

And I know where you're coming from. Kids does have the general idea of people under the age of 10. Most of the time I've found people know what you're talking about anyway, and half the time it's even common to say so. But just to avoid any confusion, I use other words that are more appropriate. One of the being mates. But youngster is another good one.

Oh, and as I am commenting anyway now, I wanted to say you did study on your 'today'. Suppose it's yesterday you were talking about. Five am is morning, belonging to the current day. So technically, you didn't study the day before yesterday, so you don't have to feel guilty about yesterday. *g*
