I'm not feeling confident.

My History Of Pharmacy exam is on Wednesday. This means that, until then, I must study and learn the contents of a small (less than 90 pages) book, which is well-written except that there's more than the odd typo here and there and flows easily.

What's the problem, you ask?

I'm pretty sure I'll pass - I know myself - but I want a good grade at it. A real good grade - 9 or 10 if possible. It doesn't count as much as the other subjects, but heck, it's an easy one, and even though the easiest part - drug legislation - has been removed this year, it's still supposed to be an easy one. Then again, rumour had it that Anatomy was an easy one too, and I'm not expecting much of a grade there. I think that people are indeed judging by how easy it is to pass, rather than how easy it is to get a good grade. Or maybe I just suck.

And I know the teacher will be more lenient with me, because I never missed one class and she said in our last lesson that she'll be more lenient with those who attended class regularly. So I have an advantage there.

But still - this book is ridden with names of scientists (which is not that bad), dates (which is worse), latin names of scientific books (which is very bad indeed) and the scientific names of various plants (which is catastrophic). And even though the teacher has said she won't ask for details, the question lingers: what can be defined as a detail? She's given us some guidelines, but I can't stop stressing out about it.

And I can't whine to my parents about it, because my father will have the answer: Call Kelly and ask her.

Kelly is the niece of a colleague of his, who is in her second year of studying Pharmacy now and her aunt thought we should get in touch. So she gave Dad her number, Dad gave her mine, etc.. We talked once, before the Anatomy exam. She sounds like a nice girl and we seemed to get along. But I can't just call people I barely know, and, what's more, ask them for favours, even of that nature. I feel annoying doing that. Plus I don't feel comfortable talking on the phone - now, if I had her cellphone number, I could SMS her, but... I don't have it. Ouf.

Though I can't help but think that maybe I *should* call. We had arranged to meet in the Anatomy exam (she had yet to pass Anatomy) through a common acquaintance, but I only saw the guy when we were headed to the classroom so I didn't have a chance to talk to him. So maybe I should call, ask her how she did at the exam, and then... bring up History Of Pharmacy?

*headdesk*

No way. I would feel incredibly pathetic. Especially over the phone.

(Speaking of which, would anyone of you happen to have that icon that says, "LiveJournal: Because we're THAT socially awkward" or another of that nature?)

Yeah. So, I'll either gather my courage and do it, or I'll just keep studying and hope for the best. What the heck? Won't I learn everything until Wednesday?

And there I was hoping to find some time to study Physiology I during this big space of time we have until the History Of Pharmacy exam. BWAHAHAHAHA! I'm funny, aren't I.

Will see you around.

Good luck with the class and exam and all. :)

OMG! I love that icon! May I steal it?!
You aren't socially awkward. It's quite right to balk at asking a complete stranger for a favour. I would, and I don't think that makes me socially awkward. Although I wouldn't mind anyone asking one of me.
I've never really considered pharmacy. I don't think I've come across it as a subject before. Usually what they do is recruit people with majors in stuff like chemistry and bio and give them an on-the-job training. What's it like?
Btw, are you primed for the Kerth voting?

Sure you can! :)

Yeah, me too - I prefer being asked favours than ask favours myself.

Well, the Pharmacy studies involve a lot of Chemistry (Organic, Inorganic, Analytical...), specific subjects such as Pharmacology and Pharmacognosy... basically, you learn about the existing drugs, as well as how to *make* drugs, and from there you can either work in a pharmacy of your own, in a hospital, or in a big company.

Kerth voting? Waah! No. :p Well, as every year, I'll only send in nominations and votes about a few categories only - Best Super Short, Best Short, Best Comedy, Best WAFFy... maybe a couple more.

Cheers! :)

Cheers! :)

Thanks! I'm actually hoping to major in mass communications (although I have yet to decide whether that's mostly due to my Lois Lane fixation *LOL*). But I'll have a look at the link, anyway. Should be interesting.
