Original writing
Jan. 13th, 2007 03:25 amI studied quite a bit of Anatomy tonight (for my standards). When I got tired, I felt like writing some original fiction.
I looked all around my hard drive, searching for the original fic I was in the mood for. I can't find it anywhere. I even tried Search (with a name contained in the story, because my original fics rarely have true titles) but it didn't turn up. I'm thinking I might have deleted it in a bout of hating my writing.
It wasn't half bad, either.
So, since it was unavailable, I started going around my original attempts. Some of them are meant to be longer, some are meant to be shorter, but all of them are the same: going great up until the Great Writer's Block. Then - nothing. There's just no continuing them. I gave a shot at one of them, but it was turning sucky so I closed it.
Okay, so I'm lying. I have four short original ficlets completed. (In Greek.) Those are worth... something. I mean, I like them, I just think I can't go anywhere with them. *I* like them, but I'm having trouble thinking anyone else would. They're angsty, and I think it's the kind of angst people don't like to read - too depressing? Morbid? I mean, three out of four deal with death in one way or another.
But as I'm going over my various WIPs, most of which I haven't seen in so long I don't even remember how they continue, I find that I like them. And perhaps that's making it more difficult to continue - an inward fear that I won't do them justice. But at the same time, it pains me to see them sitting there, doing nothing.
The only piece of original writing that has made some progress, except for my NaNoWriMo novel, is a(nother) Mary Sue story, sitting at 21 pages *without* spaces between the paragraphs. Woot. But it's a very Mary Sue story. I could continue it (assuming it wouldn't give me the same feeling of incompetence my other stories give me) but it would be just a lame story and nothing more. If I told you what made me begin writing it, you'd laugh at me.
And now I'm getting the feeling I've written about my original fics before. But I don't think I have. I probably started but didn't post it after all.
I'll go read through all of my pieces, see if I can work on any of them. Shame I can't find the other one, though. I remember the universe perfectly, but I don't have the courage to start the same story from scratch again.
And, if I don't manage to make any progress with anything of them, due to tiredness or any other reason, at least I'll be happy because I can write original pieces I like. Even though I can't finish them. :p

Date: 2007-01-13 04:49 pm (UTC)Tell me! [what made you start writing the Mary Sue story] I promise I won't laugh.
Or I at least will have the decency not to tell you that I laughed. At least you can write original pieces, though. My pieces always end up with some red-haired girl and messy-haired boy and I'm all "WTF HOW DID THAT HAPPEN NUUUUU *RIPS PAPER UP AND THEN TRIES TO TAPE IT BACK TOGETHER BECAUSE REALLY IT'S SOMEWHAT DECENT*"
x.x Annie fails.
But she still hearts you. <3

LOL, at least you can turn that into fic! And you actually have two pairing-options! :p
