Anatomy, health, myopia, and more
Jan. 11th, 2007 12:24 amI studied Anatomy this past couple of days. Progress is... mediocre. But at least it's more than nothing. I went through the Neuroanatomy book once (I love it, it's so simple and well-written, plus we're only required to study the little summarizing tables, which makes it even easier) and now I'm making my way through the other Anatomy book, which is drowning me in terminology I don't understand. At least it gets straight to the point, I guess. Anyways, everybody says Anatomy is one of our easiest subjects so it shouldn't go too bad.
On the other hand, I've more or less given up on Maths (the 's' is back! Party,
the_indigo_blue!). I've got a few more differential equations to do, but I don't know how. I know Evgenia could help me with some of them, but I've already asked for her help several times with Math (there goes 'Math' again. Yay consistency.) and I feel bad bothering her with this all the time.
I have these huge, red pimples on my face. They first appeared before Christmas (accompanying PMS) and have yet to leave, what with me stressing over the exams every so often (and not leaving them alone... *cough*). Also, I woke up with a bit of a sore throat today, and it's been this way all day. Just as long as it doesn't get any worse...
I just watched CSI and I should go to bed now, but today I woke up at noon so I'm not feeling sleepy. I know, I know I'm the only one responsible for my messed up sleeping schedule. I'll feel guilty enough about it tomorrow, when I'll spent my five hours of class feeling asleep.
*is searching for things to say...*
Oh - I went to the eye-doctor today, after two years or so, because it's become painfully obvious that I need new glasses and contacts. It turns out I have 7.25 degrees of myopia in the right eye and 7.50 in the left (plus 1 degree of astigmatism in each).
Look, Ma, I beat ya! I am teh Queen of blind.
(BTW, you English-speaking people, someone with myopia is far-sighted or short-sighted? Gut says the latter, but I lack proof. And speaking of myopia, I'm reminded of a Charmed recap on Television Without Pity, where Demian - the recapper - found it really strange that the word 'myopic' had been used in two consecutive episodes. It always amuses me to see words I use in regular, everyday speech considered strange and unusual. Like in English textbooks/exams, where the examiner goes "now I'll give you a really difficult word, mwa ha ha ha"... and proceeds with asking you the meaning of a word deriving from Greek. Teehee.)
As always when I'm busy, the Muse is nagging me again. Now it's prodding me about Through Times Of War. Which is great, really, except she always forgets to do the prodding when I'm on the computer, remembering it when I'm in bed or in the train or in other writing non-friendly places instead. Wah.
On the topic of writing, a non-joke:
Q: How can you distinguish Anna's fic between about twenty others?
A: It's the one with the fewest reviews.
No, really. If my posting on L&C boards, FF.net and FictionAlley hadn't proved it already,
fandomcommerce proved it once and for all. (Don't take it personally, Hannah. And I hope you don't mind I gave such a huge clue about my own fic... but it's January 11 already, and it's not like anyone's gonna do any digging anyway.)
I have ideas for icons to make, too. And the Mas Allá De La Usurpadora subtitling to finish... oh, and the Best Short Kerth Quiz to prepare! I've done some work on Best Super Short but Best Short is scheduled first. And the crappy thing is, we only have Excel on my brothers' computer, so I can only work there because I need the stories spreadsheet to work. And, of course, working on your brothers' computer is just not the same as working on your computer. Hence the procrastination.
(I also have to finish studying Anatomy, but we've already covered that topic.)
More random thoughts - today I watched the videoclip for Christina Aguilera's "Hurt" for the second time. (Yeah, I don't watch many videoclips.) First time around, it made me cry. Second time around, repeat. Damn you, director.
Cry with me, babies: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VPfxWGCyq8s
(Also, if anyone wants the song, I have it in mp3 format and can upload it for you guys. I just didn't upload it now because it would take me a while, and I should already be in bed as it is.
Oh, and if you haven't heard the song, don't think "Christina Aguilera" and run screaming; it's fantastic. Fantastic. I mean it.)
It's 1.28 a.m.. However am I going to wake up at 7 tomorrow - no, today?
...I could babble on, but you've probably given up on reading already. So, I'll just say goodnight for now, and go about my merry way and try to feel sleepy (which isn't going to happen anytime soon, but it *has* to happen, or else). Bye bye.
Anouk.
What? I felt like signing as Anouk today. Aren't I entitled to using my nickname every once in a while?

Date: 2007-01-11 02:42 pm (UTC)I let it pile up long before holidays started, though, so I guess I kinda deserve it. :p

Date: 2007-01-11 04:45 am (UTC)And as for myopic... sadly, I had to look it up to be sure, but it is indeed short-sighted, or as we say: near-sighted. I always remember it by saying "near-sighted means you can only see near."
Hope you got some sleep! :)

Date: 2007-01-11 02:45 pm (UTC)I did get some sleep, though it took me more than a while - but, after almost 9 hours being awake, I have yet to feel sleepy (wow), so all's good :)
See ya,
Anna.

Date: 2007-01-11 08:58 pm (UTC)Ooh, I get terrible skin when I have PMS. Hope they clear up and you feel better soon. I'm also pretty short sighted, but WAH YOU TRULY ARE TEH QUEEN OF BLIND. Unless it's different in England and Greece, because I'm 5.0 in one eye and 5.5 in the other and I thought that was pretty horrendous. Sorry for all the insults, haha.
