This sucks.

"This" being Sociology.

I can't bring myself down to studying it. Either I'm looking at the pages without paying any attention to them, or I do read but the words don't register.

I'm very annoyed with this book and its writers. First of all - just because you're sociologists and not philologists doesn't mean that you have to butcher the language!! Okay, so 'butcher' might be a little too harsh, but little mistakes such as misplaced commas or awkward syntax keep coming up.

And no, I can't ignore them and focus on what the text actually says, when the text is so... crappy. You get tons of examples and explanations with the definitions of the terminology randomly planted inbetween. That's NOT the way it works, people. I assure you, all these examples and explanations would be completely unnecessary if you had just BOTHERED to organize your writing properly.

There's also the problem of the text being completely and utterly uninteresting. It doesn't draw the reader in, y'know? Now granted, I'm not as interested in Sociology as I'm in other things, but I can recognize an interesting read when I see one. And this, guys, ISN'T one.

Good thing I studied throughout the year. At least I have an idea (if vague) of what the book actually says. Studying two or three pages at a time isn't that bad, but (/me checks...) 100 (100?! Oh, crap!) pages of [insert swearword of your choice here] is draining.

I think those textbook writers could greatly benefit from joining a fanfic community and getting advice on how to keep the reader's interest, how to use language properly, and how to avoid unnecessary digressions and babbling and just GET TO THE POINT ALREADY.

Well, at least I have until Tuesday morning.

See ya,
Anna.
