Remember my previous post?

Well, my Photoshop skills are VERY, VERY limited, but my mind kept nagging me about it and I couldn't resist:

Original pic is here.

I turned the hair fuchsia with the spray tool, the eyes grey-blue with the red eye brush (her natural hazel eyes didn't fit *at* *all* with the Tonks look) and used the Auto Color Correction to make her skin paler.

The hair was the most difficult part - I had to adjust the opacity and the darkness every so often and make sure I was following the flow of her hair as I sprayed so that the colour looked normal. Is that how all the Photoshoppers work when they're recolouring something? I thought there was an easier way. Not that I didn't have fun with this, mind you.

And I think I like the result, too. It probably doesn't fool anyone, but hey, it's my first attempt at recolouring! Gotta give a girl credit for trying.

I like the idea of learning Photoshop a little better. Tutorials and how-to's bore me to tears, usually, but if I go experimenting (like now) I might learn something.

One last thing (kinda OT, but anyway): my apologies to Cath and her fans for the delay on chapter 10 of 'The Girl Or The Game?'. I'll try to take a first look at it later today, but as my system involves going twice over it with some space between the two readings, and I'm going to be out of town tomorrow all day, you'll probably have to wait until Wednesday. Sorry. It came with bad timing.

See ya,
Anna.

Ooh! That's really spiffy! She looks like Tonks! !!! Exclamation points!!!

I haven't done a lot of things with coloring specifically, but the stuff I have done is similar, I suppose. More playing with curves and saturation, with some layering, too. Opacity is a biggie.

Yay, exclamation points!!! Thank you, vea!!! :)

I can't quite figure out how layers work. It seems that they're very useful but I still haven't bothered to experiment with them. And the Help article was no help at all :p (Or maybe I'm too stupid to understand it. One of the two.)

See ya,
Anna.

!!

Layers are a girl's best friend. (Besides her computer, of course.) I'm not sure how they work in Photoshop, but it's probably similar to PSP. It makes everything easier when things are on different layers; going back and editing past actions is probably the biggest benefit. If you go to something like [livejournal.com profile] icon_tutorials, there are simple icon layer tutorials. You can expand that to do bigger images, too.

More exclamation love!!!!!!! *exclaims*

Tutorials. Brr.

...though I might browse through some Photoshop communities if I manage to get my brain out of vegetable state.

See ya,
Anna.

I've actually learned a lot from tutorials, especially with different layer functions. I used to ignore them, but once you've had 'em, you can't go back. Just do the tutorial with your own image, really, and then experiment like mad.
