Tomorrow, tomorrow...
Mar. 2nd, 2007 03:05 amTomorrow's gotta be a very interesting day.
So I've been frequenting a Greek trivia IRC channel lately, which I found thanks to a friend of a friend. The friend of the friend I've only met online.
So he IMs me today (yes, in the middle of the night) and invites me over to his house, along with two other guys from the channel, to play board games. I said okay, thinking I would talk my parents out of a mild shock state tomorrow.
Then my father woke up to go to the bathroom, so I found a chance to actually ask for permission. He said there was no way he'd let me go to a boy's house with my only company three boys I've only met online. No matter what I said, he wouldn't be convinced - he'd either need me to have another girl with me or go to a public place. In his own immortal words, "99% says they're good kids, but I'm not risking that 1%."
(Oh, note Mom's reaction, who was awakened by my and Dad's arguing: "Did it take you the Internet to meet some boys?" *headdesk*)
He did, however, agree to them coming over. So I proposed that to the guys and they said all right. I'm meeting them tomorrow morning at the train station.
It's kind of weird, yes, but I think it will prove itself to be the good kind of weird.
I bet you I won't be able to get any sleep tonight, though. Lately, whenever I put on the alarm in order to wake up in time for something, I end up having trouble sleeping *and* getting up early, whereas I easily sleep for over 10 hours if I have nothing to do the next morning. It's pretty annoying.
And, while I'm here, the writing woe of the day:
After finishing the edits I had to make, I prepared an email for my Beta. And as I was explaining why I had made the edits, it occured to me that I could have gone a few chapters back and change a grand total of two words, which would eliminate the need to fully rewrite two scenes.
*headdesk*
I'm an idiot. Mock me.
Will talk to you tomorrowif the guys don't prove themselves to be serial rapists, axe murderers, or something like that..
See ya,
Anna. :)

Date: 2007-03-02 01:51 am (UTC)That's crap that your dad wouldn't let you go out, but at least you found an alternative. And asking them to come over to your house is a good test of "is this person a serial rapist?" as the rapists are probably too afraid to risk running into the girl's parents.
Also: boys who enjoy board games are by definition awesome. You will probably have a fabulous time tomorrow, and you will have to tell us all about it.
As for the writing woe...I've done the exact same thing in part of my huge self-editing process. I always feel like a huge dork, but I think it's something we all do.
*hugs like crazy*

Date: 2007-03-02 03:47 am (UTC)Haha, that's mean. *g*
Okay, I don't know the whole story here (like how your met and everything), obviously, but I'm kind of with your dad on this. I know I've met a bunch of folcs already without a worry, but I met all of them for the first time in public places, and if I didn't, it was always because the ones I've already met could vouch that they were real people. *g* I would never consider going over to someone's house for the first time like that, and definitely not alone. Especially three boys my age! Boys my age are insane in general (not necessarily axe-murderer insane, but insane), and when they outnumber me, well... (g)
But if they agreed to come to your place they sound like good guys. Hope you have fun. :)

Date: 2007-03-02 05:41 am (UTC)But you're right, having them over to your house (where your parents will be?) is a good idea :) And the fact that they agreed to it speaks well for them too. Hope you have a great time!

Date: 2007-03-02 07:11 am (UTC)Oh, I know, that's so annoying! I'm the exact same way. I usually just have to take a nap on the couch later in the day to make up for all the sleep I can't get.
Yeah, as far as my parents know, I don't even *think* about contacting people on the internet. And I live almost 2 states away LOL. All it takes is one myspace stalker story on the internet, and you're all serial killers waiting to happen, according to my mother. *g*
