So today I remembered to research something that had been bugging me for a while, and discovered that what I am studying is not Pharmaceutics. Apparently, Pharmaceutics is just a branch of Pharmacy, which is, in fact, what my field of study is called in English.

Damn you English-speaking people, messing with the Greek words!

I'll go back to change all mentions of Pharmaceutics to Pharmacy... tomorrow.

Off to bed,
Anna.

Yep!

It's Pharmacy School in the US! At universities, we call the post-graduate programs "PharmD" (Pharm-D phoenetically speaking), which is just the lingo for getting your Doctor of Pharmacy.

And nah, don't change it if you don't feel like it! I just assumed it was pharmacy -related from the start.

Oh and people totally say they're studying pharmacy. :p Hm. Never really thought about if that sounds weird or not...Anyway my dad is a physician, so I hear the pharmacy word dropped all the time. I just tune out a lot of science lingo after a while. :p

I dont know the whole thing sounds so wrong to me. And I guess all other Greek ppl. Pharmaceutics is just more accurate phonetically and etimologika as well. They probably have difficulty pronouncing it and that is why they shortened it in the first place and from there it stuck.

This is exactly why it hadn't crossed my mind until I went to the campus and saw the big sign reading "Τμήμα Φαρμακευτικής" and, right below that, the translation: "Pharmacy Department" :p

See ya,
Anna.

A girl's gotta live up to her reputation somehow *g*

Though now I'm torn; on one hand, comments like Indy's and [livejournal.com profile] beansideirae's. On the other hand, Wikipedia and the big sign outside our building reading "Pharmacy Department" :p

See ya,
Anna.
