AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH. Stuck. (On Through Times Of War.)

...and since I'm posting, I'll take this chance to tell you something (not HP-fic related, [livejournal.com profile] doranwen, don't run screaming).

I find myself having trouble updating this journal with RL events. As I said in one of my first entries, never in my life had I managed to keep a diary, nor did I ever feel the need to have one as an account of my life - "today I did this, tomorrow I'll do that." And while I like reading about all the trivial details in my friends' lives, and I know that some (many? all?) of you like reading about them too, I can't find it in myself to write things like "today, I went to school and saw in which university departments my classmates have been admitted" (which I did). I feel like there's no point in saying that - if it was something annoying, I'd rant about it. If it was something exciting, I'd post to share my joy with you. But it's nothing more than just a fact, and I don't feel the need to share it. It happened, period. No need to dwell on it.

Why I'm telling you this? Not sure. I thought you should know. Then again, I'm really inconsistent in these things, and maybe it's just the effect of the summer on me. For all I know, when university starts and my rhythms of life change, I'll be writing detailed lists of what I did and what I didn't do all day. But this LJ's purpose is to allow me to share any thoughts I have in mind at a given moment, and these are my thoughts at the moment called 'now', so there :p

...And if you made any sense out of this, you deserve a medal.

See ya,
Anna.

Yeah, I've felt the same thing.

"You should post more often."
"But... My day-to-day life is so boring..."

I'm interested in hearing what's going on with my friends, but if I don't have anything interesting to say myself, I just won't say anything.

So... Keep an eye out for anything interesting or unusual. Post whatever thoughts come to you that seem worth sharing. Don't feel like you have to force yourself to post stuff. As with just about any writing, if you find it tedious, odds are your readers will, too.

OTOH: Remember that many of us live outside of Greece. Life for us is probably different from yours. Our culture. What we see around us. On TV, on the street, etc. It means that we won't get some references, but it also means that we may well be more interested in certain day-to-day happenings (and your thoughts on them) than you think.

I figure the lj is for writing when you feel like writing. I mean, an enormous amount of huge things have happened in my life in the last year and only about two of them made the internet (so to speak) ;).

But that being said, I love reading about my f-list doing...well, nothing too earth-shattering. It's fun, though. I feel like I"m having a phone conversation with you guys.

So what's been up?

Oh, not much. Watched "Lost" today.

Cool.

Know what I mean? :)

hahaha

I tried to start a diary once...got around one entry down...then i tried to start a online Diary a few years ago...uh didn't work out my brother got into that and it only had one entry with me ranting about the parents.

*sigh*

So i gave up

Plus if i'd kept a Diary, it would have only been to rant about Parents adn a few of my friends who purposely do things to piss me off.

At the time...75% of them did that, it was frustrating as hell (i was 10 and 14 btw when both happened). I was grateful i had other ppl to fall back on. They understood and sympathised.

OH there was a time 2 forgot my b-day...and they didn't understand why i was mad...in fact they got more mad than i did.

*sigh*

Well I'm in another country and wont see them or my fav cousins until maybe next year or the year after.

WEll i've gone off topic again but w.e

toodles

write what you want to write. ultimately, your journal is for YOU, not for your readers. if they dont like it, screw 'em.

i use my journal, both on and offline (it's mostly the same stuff in both, almost duplicate), to understand myself better. my mom (seeing how many notebooks i go thro in a month!) says "maybe you shouldnt write down EVERYTHING you did today?" but i dont. (of course, she hasnt actually *seen* what i write, so she wouldnt know!) i write what i feel is important to remember, and the rest of the time i just ramble about whatever has my interest at the time. since i'm an introspective person, it's usually something i noticed about myself. heh. but it could be anything. write about the weather every single day, if that's what has your attention! write what makes you happy to write, and what you want to remember. the thoughts that seem important at the time, the events you want to remember the details of, and the jokes you want to pass on. it's that simple. there is no "write this, dont write that" rule.

at the same time, i do have to agree with...er....mr letters and numbers up there (lol...ok was just letters, but still), most of us do not live in greece and have no idea what it's like there, except the little bit we pick up from your journal. so if you're worried about what people are thinking, or that they think it's boring....most likely we wont. a lot of us are fascinated with the little details we get about other countries, and LJ may be the only place we get that. i know it pretty much is for me. so yeah.... when you feel like sharing random things, go ahead and do it, we enjoy it :)

Thank you for this reply, Paul. It made me feel better. And your "OTOH", too. It's good to know that there's something to keep you interested in this journal :)

See ya,
Anna.

I guess different people find different things post-worthy. Adds variety, imo.

And yeah, I know what you mean.

Thanks for replying :)

See ya,
Anna.

Thank you so much for this reply, Clarwyn. I did start this journal with the intent to write whatever I felt like writing, but sometimes I feel like there are gaps inbetween. For example, I told you all I was going on vacation, but I didn't feel like writing about the vacation itself. Otoh, I should write *something*, because you'd be wondering. Know what I mean?

Also thanks for agreeing with Paul ;) It's good to know you guys are interested.

See ya,
Anna.

I think I get it. (give me a medal, please!) No, I feel sort of the same way. While I love reading about other people's lives, unless something really exciting or irritating is going on in my life, I don't really like writing about it. I usually will try, out of obligation, at least, but... If it's not really interesting me, why should I bother sharing it? Sort of what you meant?

The thing about online journals is that you can talk about many private matters and still have anonymity, but at the same time, you never know who'll read it. I have a diary myself and I rarely write in it. The one I had last year, I wrote in religiously and when I read it back a month ago, I thought that my words were immature and stupid.

I get you. Kind of. Mostly. Yeah.
