Of Sociology (and other) textbooks
Sep. 20th, 2006 11:41 pmRemember my rant on the Sociology textbook?
Well, I knew there's been a revamp on the schoolbooks, but they've been mostly changing the primary and junior high books. Yet, my brother Christos today pointed out to me that the Sociology textbook they have is different than the one I had last year. What does this mean?
I WAS RIGHT. HA!
At last, after 8 years *shudders* of students using that book, somebody realized it was BAAAAD. (Or perhaps somebody read my rant, in which case I did the Greek students a favour. *g*) I took a look at the new one. It's much better than the one I used to have - says the same things, but in a more coherent way. They got rid of the godawful read-the-example-and-squeeze-the-theory-out-of-it tactic! I'm so happy for the generations following mine :D
And I found out because today I finally dedicated some time to arrange all my books, notebooks and photocopies from last year. Most of the stuff was handed down to Christos, since he's now in the year I was last year, he's following the same studies track, and you can never have too many Advanced Maths exercises to work on *g* I doubt he'll use all this stuff (God knows how many photocopies and notes I had), but at least he has it. And it's gone from my bookcase, which is pretty nifty. I actually have an empty shelf now! (Well, it's not *quite* empty, since there's a small pile of random stuff I need tothrow away arrange, and my dictionaries reside there as well, but now I have room for the numerous and huge textbooks I'll need for the university.)
*deletes three long paragraphs on her brother, his exams and her thoughts on it. Don't ask why, because there's no specific answer.*
And that's all for today. I understand the ending is coming a little abruptly, but after working for a long time on the chunk I ended up deleting, I have no courage to write more.
Will see you around. ♥
